Cookbooks, farmers’ markets and muffins

It has been a while, friends! I know! I haven’t been around lately but I swear I have a couple of good reasons.
As you know, I have been interning for a Toronto food culture magazine, Acquired Taste, for about a year now and have recently taken on the role Online Editor. I just love Acquired Taste and am so happy to be working more closely with them! It has taken me a while to get into the routine of gathering posts, editing stories and putting together the editorial calendar but I am learning so much and loving it!
I have also become more and more involved with Ryerson’s vegetable garden and was recently hired to help coordinate the Ryerson farmers’ market! As a lover of local food, urban gardening and farmers’ markets, this is pretty much a dream come true. I honestly don’t know what I’m going to be doing but I start on Thursday so I’ll be sure to let you know how it goes!
Last, I have also been working away on a project of my own: I have decided to put together Tastes of Ancaster, a cookbook of recipes from local, Ancaster chefs, farmers and residents made using fruits and vegetables that are grown in Ancaster. I have finished gathering recipes (although if you live or lived in Ancaster and have a recipe to contribute, send it my way!) and I have begun to make and photograph each of the recipes! Today I made blueberry muffins and tomorrow I will make some sweet potato French fries from a local farmer. Then it will be on to asparagus with sesame seeds, spirited peaches, spicy berry jam and my Grandma’s rhubarb pie. I can’t wait for Tastes of Ancaster to come together and I’ll be sure to let you know when it does! I’m hoping it will be finished in a month of so.
Lots going on! So stay with me! I promise I will be back in a couple of days.

What a good looking muffin and that internship sounds like a great fit for you. Sounds like you have some great stuff coming up.
Congrats.. and the muffin looks divine..
Thank you! And it certainly was. You know, I had to taste test it and all.
Wow tons going on! And all of it food related which makes it extra exciting. Congrats
Yess definitely busy! Thanks!
I love this muffin picture. I find muffins extremely difficult to take good pictures of. and yours is so simple- yet innocent, fresh and inviting!
Thank you! Its so true, muffins and cookies are tough to photograph! I’m glad this one turned out. Thanks for reading!
That muffin looks so good! Good luck on your project. Would be good to know how it turned out.
Thanks! I have had to put the cookbook on the back burner for now but I’m definitely going to have it finished by spring!
That’s all so wonderful! Just wanted to say, there’s something about this shot that I just love!
Thanks! I might shoot it again since I feel like its a bit blurry but I do love how its composed! By the way, its nice to hear from you Sarah!
Hope you’re doing well!
