Apple and almond butter breakfast crisp

January 3, 2012 § 7 Comments

You’d think that if there were a breakfast that I ate every couple of days that I would have posted it on the Starved Writer by now, wouldn’t you? You would. But there is. And I haven’t. To be honest, I almost didn’t even post this today. I mean, its just a bowl of mushed up yogurt, almond butter and granola with an apple on top. But its just so damn good. It is the perfect breakfast to wake up to. The apple is nice and sweet, the yogurt makes it creamy and light and the granola and almond butter have got enough protein to fill me up for a good couple of hours. Not to mention, you make it in a bowl. Good things always come in a bowl.

Ingredients

1 red apple, chopped
1 cup of granola
1/2 cup of plain yogurt
1/2 cup of almond butter
1/4 cup of almonds

Directions

1. Place the yogurt and the almond butter in a serving bowl and stir it up.
2. Now pour the granola over top. Fold the granola into the yogurt and almond butter until they areĀ  just combined.
3. Top with the apple chunks and the almonds.

Ok, I know that there aren’t any almonds in the bowl in these pictures. I made this bowl at my home in Ancaster and the only almonds we had were spiced with tamari. Forgive me.
